Living a life full of diverse, novel, and memorable experiences.

  • Sunset photo taken by Colin Indermaur on a hill in Lombok, Indonesia. The image shows golden light over tall grass and soft hills, with a lone figure standing still in the distance. Minimalist white text reads “The different kind of richness.” This peaceful scene reflects the idea of experiential richness — feeling truly alive and free in a simple, present moment. The image connects to Colin’s personal story about finding richness not in material things, but in meaningful, quiet experiences during his travels. Colin, a filmmaker and creative storyteller, pairs this visual with a personal reflection about how a quiet sunset in Lombok unexpectedly made him feel rich — not in financial terms, but in emotion, experience, and stillness. This kind of richness, he suggests, is often overlooked but deeply valuable.

If you saw my last post, you know I asked ChatGPT: “How do you define richness?”

It listed all kinds of answers. Financial. Emotional. Spiritual. But one of them hit different: Experiential richness. Living a life full of diverse, novel, and memorable experiences. I kept thinking about that. I then remembered something - a moment. I was standing on this high cliff - right above the big crushing waves. Sun melting into the sea. Wind brushing over the green-grassed hills. No plan. No goal. No performance. Just there. And for a split second - I felt it. That quiet, effortless richness. Not loud. Not proud. But real. The kind of richness that doesn’t need to be shown or explained. The kind that just exists - if you’re present enough to notice it. I didn’t feel especially successful. I didn’t feel productive. I just felt… free. And maybe that’s it. Maybe being truly rich is also just being alive, in a moment that doesn’t ask anything of you - except that you feel it. And if you’ve read this far, I think you’re like me. Looking for moments like these too - the kind that make you feel something real. The kind that remind you you’re alive. They believe in you.
