Have you built a kind of freedom that travels with you?

  • Colin Indermaur captured during his travels, sitting outdoors at dusk under string lights with a calm, reflective expression. He is wearing a dark North Face jacket and hoodie, framed by warm lights, plants, and a clear evening sky. The text on the photo reads, “When was the last time you truly felt free?” The image represents Colin’s lifestyle as a creative professional, videographer, and storyteller who combines travel and work while exploring new cultures and locations around the world. This post reflects on the meaning of freedom — both the outer freedom of moving across countries and the inner freedom of self-discovery, stability, and growth while being on the road. It speaks to travellers, creators, entrepreneurs, and people seeking inspiration for personal growth, freedom, and building a meaningful life.

I’ve now been home for a little more than 2 weeks, after 13 months of traveling the world.

And it’s strange… Because for the longest time, I believed freedom meant being able to go anywhere, anytime. New cities, new cultures, new faces. Always moving. Always chasing the next horizon. But the deeper I go, the more I realize: freedom isn’t just about moving without limits. True freedom is stability inside yourself. It’s the kind of stability that makes you feel at home whether you’re in Zurich, Bali, or the middle of nowhere. The kind of stability that lets you create, focus, and grow no matter the chaos around you. Because the truth is: you can travel the whole world… and still feel lost. Or you can stay in one place… and feel completely free. Freedom isn’t out there. It’s in here. So the question is - have you built a kind of freedom that travels with you?
